What is a Housing Association / Registered Provider?

In essence these are organisations who use government grants and other finances to acquire homes to sell or rent to people who cannot afford homes on the open market. Most are not for profit, although increasingly for profit associations are joining the market. They range from very small companies with just a handful of properties to massive national providers with tens of thousands of properties.

Is this just about money?

We believe in the profit motive as it can help drive progress.  However, we are also determined to play our part to helping to solve the national housing crisis.  By bringing together buyers and developers we can increase the amount of affordable housing available, and make it available quicker.

What are the benefits of selling through FHI?

As well as the benefits you get from selling faster or securing sales before you build, you will also be contributing to solving the housing crisis.  FHI was set up to increase the amount of affordable housing available across the UK without determent to you, the developer.

Can you help me sell my development?

We work with developers who are looking to sell land (with our without planning), want to have the guarantee of sales before they build or have completed there developments and are looking for serious buyers with big financial reserves to secure multiple sales in one go.

We help all kinds of developers, from those with small developments of just four units to nationwide home builders with hundreds.  It is all about creating the deal that work for all sides.  To see a sample of developments we are currently working on, click here (to pdf current opportunities.

How does FHI add value?

Quite simply, we bring together existing supply and demand for affordable housing and land. Our commercial mission is to generate better deals between registered providers, developers and housebuilders, acting as an expert honest broker.  We also negotiate with local authorities and other parties to resolve planning issues so that new schemes involving affordable housing can be validated at an early stage. This process allows off-plan deals to be signed and sealed to ensure certainty on all sides – and removes the section 106 elephant trap, where parties spend months negotiating the theoretical attributes of a housing scheme, endlessly arguing about mix and tenures.
